Granger Cobb Institute for Senior Living Student Receives LCS Foundation Scholarship

The Granger Cobb Institute for Senior Living at Washington State University (WSU) has announced Hadley Franklin as the recipient of the 2025 LCS Foundation University Scholarship. Franklin is a senior pursuing a major in hospitality business management and minors in aging business management and gerontology.
For Franklin, a career in the senior living industry offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of seniors. “Senior living is business with soul, an opportunity to build meaningful relationships and make a real impact on people’s lives every single day,” said Franklin. “I have a deep passion for hospitality, and I can’t think of a better way to live out that passion than by contributing to the well-being, dignity, and joy of aging adults.”
Hadley’s inspiration to pursue a career in senior living stems from her close relationships with her grandparents. “I’ve been fortunate to grow up in a rural Colorado town surrounded by my grandparents, all of whom played a huge role in my life,” she said. “That closeness helped shape my desire to work in an industry where I can support and uplift older adults every day.”
“This scholarship is a powerful reminder that my dreams are possible and that others believe in my potential to make a difference,” Franklin said. “This is a tremendous source of motivation and has given me the confidence to finish strong and lead with passion and purpose. I know I will make a difference.”
She added she is grateful for the support she has received during her time at WSU. “I would like to thank Darcie Bagott and Nancy Swanger, two amazing women,” Franklin said. “Their support, guidance, and belief in me have been instrumental in shaping the young professional I strive to be. I am forever grateful to be able to have them in my life.”
After graduation, Hadley hopes to become a leader in the senior living industry in a position where she can help form communities that provide not just care, but true quality of life for residents.
The LCS Foundation has established a partnership with the Granger Cobb Institute for Senior Living at WSU to support the continued education of students pursuing degrees in the senior living industry. Through the program, university scholarships are awarded annually. Other schools where scholarships are in place include Northwood University, the University of Northern Iowa, and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
