LCS Foundation Names 2025 Ed and Sue Kenny Scholarship Recipients
The LCS Foundation has awarded the 2025 Ed and Sue Kenny Scholarships to two students pursuing careers in the field of senior living: Elisabeth Roadcap, a Master of Health Administration candidate from Cornell University, and Anastasiia Hutsal, a Healthcare Management major at Iowa State University.
About the 2025 Ed and Sue Kenny Scholarship Recipients:
Elisabeth Roadcap
Masters of Health Administration/Minor in Senior Living Management
Cornell University
Elisabeth’s passion for senior living stems from an early course in Senior Living Management and hands-on experience as a pharmacy technician, where she helped older adults navigate medications and insurance. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Health Administration with a Minor in Senior Living Management.
"I became motivated to improve the lives of seniors and create community environments and resources that promote longevity and facilitate chronic disease prevention,” said Roadcap. “After earning my master’s degree in health administration, I hope to complete the LCS Professional Development Program to work as a nursing home administrator, and eventually an executive director.”
Her internship at Broadview at Purchase College reinforced that a career in senior living means learning, mentoring, and engaging in culture. She wants to help redefine aging and educate others that the senior living industry is an excellent area for innovation, entrepreneurship, and service.
Elisabeth is actively involved in campus leadership roles, including serving as a graduate assistant for a Senior Living course, mentoring peers, and contributing to Cornell’s Health-Conscious podcast.
Anastasiia Hutsal
Healthcare Management, Iowa State University
Anastasiia commitment to senior care began with summers spent alongside her grandparents in Ukraine, where she witnessed the challenges families face without proper elder care facilities. Her journey has been marked by resilience—fleeing her home during the war and rebuilding her academic path in the U.S. Now pursuing a degree in Healthcare Management at Iowa State University, Anastasiia aims to join LCS’s Professional Development Program and become a licensed Nursing Home Administrator.
"Witnessing both the struggles and the absence of support for those without family cemented my commitment to improving senior care,” said Hutsal. “For me, this scholarship is more than funding—it would be an investment in my ability to contribute to the lives of seniors and continue turning my experiences into a career that serves people.”
She has completed a successful internship with Green Hills Retirement Community, where she has demonstrated a passion for service, process improvement, and quality care. Her leadership in Iowa State’s Pay It Forward club has involved planning and leading service trips to nine U.S. cities, where she coordinated volunteer efforts to support diverse populations through various nonprofits. Her ultimate goal is to ensure seniors and their families feel valued and supported through compassionate, community-driven solutions.
The Ed & Sue Kenny Scholarship was founded in 2019 to promote the education and professional development of undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a degree at any college/university in the field of senior living. The scholarship program is open each year to qualifying students across the country. The next application process will begin in July 2026.
