Northwood University Student Awarded LCS Foundation Scholarship

Jul 7, 2026
LCS Foundation scholarships help support and develop future senior living industry leaders.

Northwood University (NU) has announced Omari Hairston as a recipient of a 2026 LCS Foundation Scholarship. Omari is entering his second year at Northwood and is pursuing a degree in healthcare management with a specialization in human resources.

"Growing up, I often heard the stigma sometimes associated with senior living from my grandparents. Watching my mother and sister care for my grandfather through his dementia showed me how demanding caregiving can be for families," Omari said. "This experience inspired me to help change the stigma surrounding senior living communities by promoting the compassionate care and support they can provide for both seniors and their loved ones."

"Thanks to the LCS Foundation, this scholarship means less financial and emotional stress for my family," Omari said. "It means I'm one step closer to achieving my future goals."

The LCS Foundation’s partnership with Northwood University supports the education of students pursuing degrees in the senior living and care profession. Recipients are chosen by the NU Scholarship Selection Committee guided by principles endorsed by the LCS Foundation. Other schools where LCS Foundation scholarships are offered include the University of Northern Iowa, the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and the Granger Cobb Institute for Senior Living at Washington State University.
